Real estate photography shot list

A consistent shot list makes every real estate shoot faster, makes sure you never miss a room, and gives agents the photos they expect. Use this list as a starting point and adapt it to each property and package.

In this guide: before you start, exterior, interior room by room, details, twilight and drone, and delivery order.

Before you start

  1. Check the package: how many photos, and any floor plan, drone, video or twilight extras.
  2. Walk through the property first to plan your route and spot the best angles.
  3. Turn on all lights, open blinds, turn off fans and TVs, and hide clutter, bins and personal photos.
  4. Note the property's best features, and ask the agent if there's anything they especially want.

Exterior

  1. Front of the house, straight on, and from both front corners.
  2. Curb view including the street and landscaping.
  3. Backyard, patio or deck, pool, garden and any outbuildings.
  4. Rear of the house from the far corner of the yard.
  5. View from the property, if it's a selling point.

Interior, room by room

  1. Entry: the first view as you walk in.
  2. Living and family rooms: two angles each, from corners, showing flow to other rooms.
  3. Kitchen: a wide shot, a second angle showing the island or dining area, and appliances.
  4. Dining room: one or two angles.
  5. Primary bedroom: two angles, plus the walk-in closet if notable.
  6. Primary bathroom: vanity, shower or tub.
  7. Other bedrooms and bathrooms: one or two shots each.
  8. Bonus spaces: office, basement, laundry, garage, gym, theater.

Details

  1. Features that sell: fireplace, built-ins, new appliances, hardwood floors, high ceilings, views from windows.
  2. Keep details to a few strong shots; they support the wide shots rather than replace them.

Twilight, drone and extras

  1. Twilight: front exterior about 15 to 30 minutes after sunset, with every light on.
  2. Drone: the property in its setting, the lot lines, nearby amenities and views. Follow local drone rules.
  3. Floor plan: measure as you go, or plan time at the end.

Deliver in walkthrough order

Agents upload photos in order, so deliver them that way: front exterior first, then entry, living areas, kitchen, dining, bedrooms, bathrooms, bonus spaces and outdoor areas, with twilight and drone at the end.

  1. In RebookMedia, upload photos to Photos & Videos, and floor plans to Floor Plans.
  2. Drag photos into walkthrough order before you deliver.
  3. Deliver within the time you promised; next-day delivery is what agents love most.
